Say Yes! Sponsor a Paralympic Athlete
|
Rachelle and her sprint coach, Jerome Groover. Coach Groover
has coached numerous track and field athletes that have competed at the collegiate and Olympic level. He is head track and
field coach at Palm Beach Lakes High School, West Palm Beach, FL.
|
Just like their Olympic counterparts, Paralympic athletes
need your financial support. The costs of training and competing at the world-class level are very high. Though US Paralymics
provides some support, Paralympic athletes must cover most of their expenses on their own.
|
Rachelle's
Funding Needs....
Rachelle's 2008 athletic expenses are expected to total approximately $5,000. This amount
is needed to cover costs for training, coaching, equipment, travel, and entry fees. Competition expenses are high, as Rachelle
must travel throughout the United States to participate in elite-level disability events. In addition, to compete at the Paralympic
level, Rachelle needs a world-class sprint coach, personal trainer, and a physical therapist with credentials in disability
athletics. As U.S. Paralympic funding is very limited, Rachelle must cover these expenses on her own.
